It's been 24 years since pre67vw was launched and a lot has changed in the hobby since then.

The aim of the site was to concentrate on the earlier sloping headlight air-cooled models, with 67 being the general start of the upright headlights. There has been a drastic decline in the number of air-cooled VW's you see out driving around and certainly even later VW's are now sought after classics with a 1970 Beetle now being over 50 years old. I know plenty of enthusiasts who own very early cars who also own later air-cooled VWs as well, it really seems to make little sense to cater for half their VW collection but not the other half. 

With all this in mind, I've made the decision to phase out the pre 1967 restriction and open things up a bit more to more of the aircooled VW hobby. Clearly the pre67vw name is no longer applicable, so it's being dropped in favour of VolksAuto - the name of our print magazine. Personally I have recently been interested in the very last Mexican Beetles and I also quite like a nice Trekker, neither of which are pre 1967 - so I think this change is a positive one.

Just because it's changing doesn't mean that there won't still be plenty of vintage content on the site, I still expect this to be the main focus. Just expect a few later model VW's showing up here and there too. 

It's going to take time to change everything though, there are social media accounts, youTube accounts etc. that will eventually hopefully all move over. But this will be a gradual change over time, as and when I have the time to work on it.
