Your cars are newer than 67, not older. VIN nrs. etc. can be found here. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/bugchassisdating.php Not a lot of help for the 70's it seems. The auto stick - if I remember correctly - should have a clutch, but its electrically operated, when you move the stick. I´ve never even sat in one though, so I can´t help you much beyond that. Beetles aren´t complicated cars. If you change the oil, the spark plugs, the points, condensor, set the valve gaps, clean out the carb if its been sitting around, maybe also a new fuel pump and filter, then it should at least run. Try and get hold of a copy of this book.... https://www.amazon.com/Keep-Volkswagen-Alive-Step-Step/dp/1566913101

Hi, welcome to the forum. Firstly, this forum is for VW's made before 1967 and I try to keep it strictly on-topic. I sincerely apologise for sounding brutal, it's great that you're trying something new. it may be that you have a custom gear stick thats been put on, something like this: The auto-stick trans has a gear lever but no clutch pedal if I remember correctly, so if you have a clutch pedal it's not one of them. Most probably your gear lever is in the wrong place, try undoing the two bolts and moving it sideways and see if its any better.
