Is this your car that you have put on ebay? what only 1-2 weeks after having bought it for substantially less?
Yes, I can see you must really love it

1-2 weeks?? How about 4-5 days!!
"Profiteers" is probably the most printable word I can come up with to describe the new "owners"...
Posted by: JD - 30 April 2009 15:24:14
BUSTED!
"Tallulah" - bless - I bet you´ll be heartbroken to see her go. You must have become really attached to her over the few days you owned her. You´ll never forget the happy times together eh?
Posted by: pre67vw - 30 April 2009 15:43:02
Very odd.
Profiteering is one thing, but to come on here and pretend to be a genuine enthusiast - I just don't get it.

Hi, .well thank you for the posts..Well what can i say ? funny isn,t it that some of the same people who have so much to say on here offered to buy our bug of the guy for peanuts,we know who you are because we were told..or others wanted to chop it up ? so with that in mind who was taking the pi.. ? the car is far better than even we thought it would be .the guy advertised it twice and had no buyers .we got of our arses and went to look.we dont have to justify our actions why we bought it or why we are selling it .and as far goes what we think it is worth ! something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it !! also as far as being enthusiast we have owned ,a split ,3 ovals .2 ghias ,and my last was a 356c.over the last 25 years...have you realy nothing more to do !!!:d

Just want to clear this up a bit mate if you dont mind. their was 1 person on here who was interested in the car, he did offer more than what i had her up for 3.5k but unfortunatly was a tad too low for me, i did not take any offence to the offer at all and if you had not of shown the interest i would have prob have offered the car to him, all the rest was from vzi.

Its a joke ..the car is for sale and i will get as much as i can as i and others feel its worth more !!! I am not having a go at you mate .im really pissed at people who got piss all to do !!!!

Did i not mention to you that he was a trader and it would have possibly been his intentions to sell?, i dont think he would have put it as far out of reach as yourself though for most people? to be honest mate its yours to do as you please and im happy with what i recieved for it, if you were that keen on keeping the car (which you both told me that it was a keeper for sure)im sure you would have looked for a more than great car cover?, im not here to judge but plenty of people will. off topic, i have not recieved my card back yet?

He was a trader ? i see ...as for what we are asking thats what i truly believe its worth ..if im wrong then so be it ..all at the club think the same too.what do we know ?? its being used every day and despite what you and others think we will sorry to see it go ..as for the card it was as we promised, posted the next day ! to the address on the log book ..we even spoke when we had just been posted ..so im at a guess what has happened! give it another few days !! Of course its your car to what you want with.
But why are you coming on here pretending the car is your pride and joy when in reality you just bought it to flip it on (as is your good right, of course)?
Just put a classified up like other people do.

oh! that's OK then.
Listen everybody, money makes the world go around.
And if i sell something, under estimating it's value. And the new buyer can make a profit, then isn't that my fault for under estimating what i had.
People do buy things to make a profit,it's called business.
And these people don't tell you this when they come along because that's not the way business works.
It happens, whether it right or wrong,it happens.

im really really confused now!
1.do think its a bit strange posting a thread abt his new pride and joy then selling it just as soon after(odd but its your car etc)
2.then i thought that the seller had felt robbed like the 58 that sold the other day and is now advertised for more money elsewhere(but seller seems happy)
i think this goes back to the big money to be made in early beetles argument maybe???
Posted by: Standard split - 30 April 2009 21:28:10
Some threads on the internet suck, and leave me with a bad taste. This certainly is one.
I buy my cars because I really like them. They then live with me for a long time.
That is what our hobby should be – it's not a business [-x
I must admit I am getting more and more p****d of by people buying these lovely old VWs and putting them up for sale just days later
These people are not even investors – they're just in a money-making scam which also soils the car's history – ie the car that's had the same loving owner for 23 years now has one or two on the document who've had it ten days

It may not be a business for you and i, John.
But when there is an oppurtunity for money to be made any hobby will attract the business minded.
People trade in cars and they often sell for bigger money than WE are used to.
And more than often a hobby needs these people.Certain traders scour the planet for rare cars and parts, they do it to make money.
Surely you don't expect them to pass their gains on at cost price.Saying "oh! i got it in Sweden for 500 quid, there you go as long as i get my money back"
Seller seems happy in this case, new buyer could have choosen his words differently...It's over,it's business.

The bug is stunning,i truly feel its worth more,if that offends anyone,Im sorry. We are not rich or pretend to be and every penny counts, like i said before, somethings only worth what someone is willing to pay.As u will know, there is no given priceguide for such like (ovals, splits etc.)

jo,i wasnt trying to upset anyone 8)
my point was both parties involvd are happy, but recently have seen a lot of cars sold that were very nice then sold on/advertised at a much higher price the next day and the worry is that soon the cars are just going to get so expensive that only people with big pockets should apply
i have no grief with you making money as we all like to,i was only questioning the opening statement like others

I can see where you coming from,it just really pisses me of when people judge us,not knowing anything about us/our situation.
Regarding the statement,we where only asking is anyone going to the show.I am glad we didnt post a thread stating we were going to make it in to a wizard lol.Mind some so called enthusiast would think this is ok.
I have calmed down now..lol

There is no crime here in buying a car to sell, just some blatant heartlessness gone on here that would have been avoided if you had actually read a few threads on this very forum before posting preaching love for your new car.
We sell cars on, although only very ocassionally cars bought on home turf, and I also get excited about every one! :d but I know we just cant keep them all and still pay the house bills. But it is fun using them for a while in between :d
But we dont make out when we buy these odd few from the owners that they are keepers, and put them up for sale again within days! These are even basic flipper rules if you are an enthusiast yourself!

I think if it were mine, I'd give it a lot longer to try and find some garage space before deciding to pass it on. I'd enjoy it over the summer, visit some shows and then store it over the winter when the weather turns.
There's nothing wrong with trying to make the best of a bad situation such as having to sell a car you would prefer to keep if you could. At least it hasn't been lowered and modified before changing hand again.
I know it's different but plenty of people on here, me included, fund some of their VW activities by buying and selling bits and pieces and we all love a bargain even if it's something we don't really need!
:d
