Have been looking forward to this show; let's hope the rain stays away, and the ground isn't a mire.
Have been looking forward to this show; let's hope the rain stays away, and the ground isn't a mire.
Yep me to. I was half wondering if it might get cancelled... it's not going to be pleasant if it's all flooded. :(

nice and boggy! better pack me toothbrush for the tyre treads

We haven't had any rain here so I really don't know what the current conditions are like at Stanford Hall- I hope it doesn't get cancelled as we're coming quite a distance to the show...

i live about 40mins from Stanford in the midlands and its been raining for the last 2 weeks. rained this morning, but has stopped now......says cloud for sunday. bet the fields at stanford are like a marsh!

Ive got some old snow chains for a beetle if you want to borrow them   Andy W Ps thanks for the info Rob on the entry price to Stanford

Posted by: vintagebug - 03 May 2012 11:22:38
I hope we won't need snow chains  (although the ski areas are still open up here). Sounds like a wet suit & flippers might be required though! I'll bring my waterproofs...

Posted by: pre67vw - 03 May 2012 11:57:35
It's been raining everyday since they announced it was a drought and there is a hosepipe ban. Crazy to see rivers flooding, floods accross roads etc. in a drought

Any one taking a Schwimmwagen :d Andy W

I live in the grounds of Stanford Hall, and trust me, its WET! Never seen it so wet before. Bring your welly-gogs! However, I am on hand with my Defender (yes, its a Landrover and its British) to pull anyone out who gets stuck in the mud. I ask for a donation to Cancer Research in return! I did hear that they're hiring in some gridding to form roads, which will help, but they can't put it everywhere. See you all Sunday Barcs PS - I'll be being dragged about the show with a Beagle puppy, so stop me and say hi if you see me!

Just read a weather report and it says -9 and snow forcast for the bank holiday weekend. its funny but i can remember going to Stanford hall many years ago and it was snowing :( So the snow chains may be needed after all  pitty thay dont fit a Polo. Andy W

ITS BEEN CANCELLED! SPREAD THE WORD https://www.stanfordhallvw.co.uk/

:( Always look forward to Stanford Hall :thumbdn: But it doesn't surprise me...

Posted by: Robb - 04 May 2012 08:58:45
i suspect the estate may have forced this decision, as the grounds would have needed alot of repair afterwards. fingers crossed it gets rescheduled for this year again!

Posted by: pre67vw - 04 May 2012 09:13:06
It's probably the right decision, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the grounds are flooded being right next to water. But yeah, fingers crossed for later this year.
It's probably the right decision, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the grounds are flooded being right next to water. But yeah, fingers crossed for later this year.
Yeah, its seriously water-logged. There are now TWO lakes and TWO rivers on the park Its all very, very wet around the place. It would just trash the park completely. If anyone wanted any parts, free delivery all next week if you quote 'pre 67 VW' on your order. Barcs.
ITS BEEN CANCELLED! SPREAD THE WORD https://www.stanfordhallvw.co.uk/
Disappointing, but the right decision. All the fields round here are covered in water, so driving fleets of old cars across similar ground would've been a debacle. Hope they reschedule soon.

Posted by: Lost64 - 04 May 2012 15:20:47
A real shame for sure, but given the circumstances, perfectly understandable. We were really looking forward to this as I haven't been to Stanford Hall for ages, so I hope that LWVWOC can reschedule it. Gavin.

Posted by: AW - 04 May 2012 21:25:12
I hope it gets rescheduled but with the calander for VW shows bursting at the seems and people and traders having already booked for the comming year will it happen can it happen?I for one hope it dose  Andy W

I didn't register mine to be shown; wonder if they'll accept more entries? I'll have a few more weeks to smarten mine up

Bloody typical. A lovely day today with the sun shining all day, albeit a bit cool ! Navermind, just hope everything dries out for the 1st July.
