Not sure how well this is going to work, it's a little bit experimental - but for those of you not going to Hessisch Oldendorf I'm trying to set it up so that I can send photos straight from my mobile to the forum. 8) I'll be doing a little bit of testing, so don't be suprised if photos keep appearing and disapearing on this thread...

Here in Hessich Oldendorf, most of the people work for the event next weekend. The camping-ground is prepared (and has enough place even for non-registered visitors), the grass and trees were freshly cut and the streets are cleend. The local shops decorated their shops with Volkswagen-stuff and everywhere you can feel this special spirit. Today, we brought the VW 38 into the old chirch - the right place for the "holy grail". The church will be open during the whole weekend so that everybody can see this wrecked old Volkswagen so many people talking about. On sunday, the local priest will pray about it. If the weatherman is righ, the weather should be very nice so that there is nearly no reason not to come. There are a lot of red booking entries on https://www.uraltkaefer.de/teilnehmer.pl?lang=en, I'm guessing these bookings are unconfirmed. Are they likely to be offered out for others? Alternatively, does anybody have a reservation for 1 car / 2 humans they no longer need?!

As a austrian user from another VW-Forum said - the campingground in Hessisch Oldendorf is like a seperate meeting - open and big enough for all VW-friends. It is only 2 minutes by feeds into the old city of Hessisch Oldendorf, where the meeting of the booked participants is. We are sorry, that we can't get non-registered participants inside, but there is realy no place anymore. These participants will get a present-bag with some nice items and a numbered collectorsbadge. The full registered participants will also get a free entrance into the city-hall of Hessisch Oldendorf. Inclusive a big luch, a seperate Tombola and some programme. If you are not registered yet, don't worry. Come with your vintage Volkswagen to the camping ground and enjoy it. Today, we are going to pick up some very interesting, never seen Volkswagen and some participants send us pictures of the cars, they really come to the show - as a special surprise. I will try to write more news inclusive some actualy fotos this evening. But now it is time to start the things we have to do today...;-)

Wow Bjoern, some nice cars there and a great idea for the VW38. I think we should all say a prayer! I'm absolutely gutted I cannot make this event, so I hope you and all the team have a really good show. From the looks of it it'll be one of the best Vintage VW events for years. *Note for Rob... Have you fixed your uploading issues? Those of us who cannot make it will be itching to see pics as soon as possible and the more the merrier. Wish all the UK crowd a safe trip there and back with your cars.
Jesus .... George ... only one man who can laugh with all my misery!
I wasn't laughing about your car not being ready ET.I feel for you 100%,wish i could help. It seemed a funny thing to say about the guy's(mechanics) mother. But things like this are very minor, think of what Guido has been through this year and everything else does not seem important. Guido is getting better and there will be other times for the Heb.

But he will be in HO, that's something he doesn't like to miss! ET

 , dammn , it is already over. I got home last night. I want to say a big thanks to the Grundmanns and their team for the biggest, nicest event that took place. It was a blast for me, again. Great to speak and meet so many people that I only knew over this and other sites. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Also great to find some new info on the KARMANN and HEBMULLER REGISTRY that you can find here: https://karmann1952.de/index.html I am sure it will be updated soon but please give us some time. Thanks Claus. https://https://karmann1952.de/html/hessisch_oldendorf_2009_131.html AND THANKS FOR BREAKING THE RECORD WITH THE HEBMULLERS:lol: . The 38 VW is not yet identified. Due to the hard work last weeks to prepare the event, there was no more time to do the research on the car. They are getting closer and closer but it is a matter of time to identify. I only can say for now that it is a number between car 1 and 30.... And maximum a digit 1 in the first place. I am sure it will be announced soon. Best regards, PETER.
I want to say a big thanks to the Grundmanns and their team for the biggest, nicest event that took place.
X 2!!! :d I just got home a few hours ago & want to say that HO was just an amazing show, it has to be one of the best. The VW38 inside the church was a masterstroke- although I have to say it felt kind of weird looking at a VW sitting in the middle of a church! And the Heb line-up outside the church was incredible, I don't know how many there were in the end, maybe 20 or so? Can anyone confirm the final Heb count? And one street crammed full of split Beetles, another one wall-to-wall with Ovals, a third with Karmann Ghias, it goes on... And what can I say about the Grundmann museum?- WOW, what a collection of rare & superb cars!! I can't think of anything else to add right now, I'm still lost for words... :d Just to repeat- a HUGE thank you to the Grundmanns for putting on an absolutely fantastic show. It really must take an enormous amount of effort, hard work & time to do this and I'm sure every single person who attended would agree that it was a superb event. The only downside is that we have to wait another 4 years until the next one!! Dave

What a great weekend - had a very good time. 1200 odd kilometers and the car never missed a beat, and kept its cool inspite of the sticky weather. Good to meet everyone that I met and sorry to have missed everyone that I missed. Thanks to the Grundmanns for a cracking show! Here´s to the next one.

First of all I congratulate the Grundmann's and their team for that magnificent meeting! We (Guido, his wife and me ET) left on Monday afternoon! We could not leave on sunday because we had such a good time over the weekend so we decided to go home a day later and enjoy one more day. So no "cold turkey" for us! Now that we are talking about "turkey", such a little bird told me that Yan Rami's heb broke down on the way home so the possibility excists that there is going to come a Hebmuller up for sale in England!!! Or Yan has to buy a new engine! But speaking of breaking down, when Guido turned up the motorway an alarm in his car went and said to close the engine immediatly because the Audi engine was to warm and loosing all the cooling fluid! I know that shit happens! After waiting an hour we were picked up by a sort of ADAC (Touring assistance)! Than brought to garage (Audi, trailer and split window) to see that we weren't the only Belgians who broke down! On the parking lot of that garage was also a standing a (I think a 1964) genuine Mach 1 beetle! (Isn't that something typical Belgian with an Okrasa engine?) During the repairs of our "tow truck" (read Audi) we managed to find a nice restaurant so atleast we could eat and drink! After doing the dishes (we had no money nomore to pay for the food) we could go back to pick up the car and go home! Driving, driving and driving you think? Yes but only till the border of Germany and Holland because the border was closed!!! Only God knowes why!!! Luckely the GPS of Guido's car guided us along all places of interest! But it was totally dark so we did not see much of the sights!!! Around midnight I could open a few cannisters of ice and ice cold "Hoegaarden" and after finishing those Belgian quality beers I could go to bed and have sweet dreams over the passed weekend! ET Sorry Yan I could not resist!!!
How come there are lowered cars there? Thought they weren't keen on them being there?
I was wondering that also. I actually thought there seemed a fair amount of lowered vehicles in attendance and that the lowered Heb's got quite a lot of attention. If it's ready, perhaps I'll have to take the 55 in 4 years time

First of all my congratulations to the whole team. It was a fantastic weekend in Hessisch Oldendorf. For me it was my first visit to this meeting. We left Thursday morning at 8h to Hessisch Oldendorf and we arrived there around 16h. After a journey of about 530km without trouble. The only problem I had was not enough time to check out all the cars. I really was looking forward to this show and it turned out great for us. The link to my pics you can find here

BUT - I see a much bigger "authenticity / destruction of soul & history"-problem with the fact that you intend to sandblast and fully restore this car... As I understand it is one of only 2 - two - known Hebmullers with mainly first paint / original paint on a large portion of the body. Very, very unique... as opposed to all the others, it has a geniune value in being preserved in the original paint and not be converted to "yet another one". My two cents only, and of course entirely up to you. I just feel the the global library of VW-preservation-elements is one chapter shorter if you erase all this from this one unique car. Otherwise - I love it and what you have done to it..

Enjoyed my trip to Hessisch Oldendorf very much. Been there before, but now for the first time as a participant. Longest drive since I bought my T34, all went smooth and comfortable. I covered some 1000kms in total and found out that the 1600 engine is quite fuel efficient at long distance drives. Before I left in Hessisch I topped up the fuel tank and about 5 hours later, when I arrived in my hometown Lier, I did the same. I only managed to put 28,7 liters of fuel in the tank, to my own surprise that was…! Having covered a distance of 402kms, this means the fuel consumption was way below the average for a T34 on the home journey: only 6,91 liters/100kms (0,34 miles/gallon)...! I must add that I drove at a relaxing 90-100km/h and the backwind was helping a bit. Nevertheless, it means that the 41 year old original engine is still doing well, nice to know…! Hessisch was a great show, only a handful of T34’s, but nice ones. Here are some pictures: Johannes Krasenbrink’s amazingly 1500S, probably the most original early T34 on the planet (1962): Nice restored 1963 convertible from Joerg Fischer, one of only five remaining M341 prototypes: From Belgium also, a 1969 Cypress green with very nice brown interior, owned by Manfred Veithen: And ofcourse this one: regards, Paul

A couple of pictures by and of the Hampshire boys from the Hessisch weekend. The first is of Trev Mouncey on a spiritual journey. He hadn’t shown much interest in the 38 Prototype Beetle until someone suggested Ferdinand Porsche himself had probably touched that very same bodyshell. All of a sudden he was born again and felt the need to absorbed the vibe, like a hippy in a crop circle. Imagine my surprise when I downloaded the pictures...I think it's just a trick of the light but it just might be the ghost of the great man himself. This one was taken by Dave Cantle during the athletic dance routines put on as after dinner entertainment. For those of you who weren’t there the guy, bottom centre was throwing the girl around and Dave clicked at the right moment. Amazing how the creative juices are enhanced by large amounts of alcohol. Don't you just love the Zombie bottom right too.
