Hey everyone.

I need a proper workshop repair manual, something that actually explains how to fix things step by step. I’m not after flashy guides or half-baked PDFs, I want something with clear instructions, diagrams, and coverage of engines, transmissions, electrics, and suspension.

Bonus if it’s usable in a home workshop. What manuals or resources have you actually used that didn’t waste your time? I’m tired of vague advice and want something concrete I can follow while working on repairs.

Appreciate any recommendations

The best manual is John Muir's "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive: A Manual of Step by Step Procedures for the Complete Idiot" - or just "The idiot guide" when you own it. It talks you through things in a non-technical way, so no prior knowledge of cars or engineering is required. It's also geared towards doing things yourself, rather than the official manuals who all expect you to own several hundred specific VW tools.
