Has this been straightened? Would indicate to original roof...?

EDIT: Sorry, I went searching, you were taking too long.

Note the spring, has the metal bracket where the bottom of it attaches to the 1/4 panel been welded on, or is it original to 'that' panel? I wouldn't surprise me if it had needed a new 1/4 panel even pre 'the' crash.

Really odd this one, no headliner gripper, like a Standard model, on the left (original side) there are marks where it was though…

I think the only way you will know for sure what work it has had, would be a bare metal restoration, which it looks like it needs anyway.

Shame that for a restored museum car it is in such a sorry state, most definitely an '80's restoration'.

Its like I've said all along though, the crash side is perfect, (mostly replaced) the non-crash side has been kept and has rust. NOT A FULL BODY SHELL REPLACEMENT, as I've continually maintained throughout this thread. Very much the old Rattletrap is here.

However, the rust has not perforated and the car is solid enough to be used:wink:

Well, more proof that its not a full re-body from an Oval, ripples present along the crash-side gutter…

So it has been welded on? The bracket that is.

Looks to me like you have orignal ('50) LHS front quarter panel, maybe some scuttle, maybe front valence, roof, presumably rear window bulkhead etc. But a new chassis, most of the RHS, dash, etc, etc

Behind the dash, note join/weld on LH side. But I don't see one on the right side :?

Yes the bracket for the spring lift is added.

The left-hand side (non-smashed) side of the car as you say seems to be the older 1950 original Rattletrap. Such a lot of work to save the old panels after the big crash  :!:

There's plenty here to chew on and some feed-back is welcome.

The next step will be for me to look at the back-half in detail, and post up the pictures.

NOW YOU ALL KNOW, THE CAR IS FOR REAL AND NOT AN OVAL BODY SWAP:!: :!:

Meanwhile, this may explain how the big smash really happened…………:!:
